The Racism and Discrimination Committee of Turkey’s Human Rights Association (İHD) issued a statement on April 24 in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, reports 1lurer.am .
The statement emphasizes that unpunished crimes become continuous, denial turns genocide into an unending crime, the perpetrator is justified, and the victim is made the accused.
Since 2005, the association has called each April 24 for an end to denialism and for full legal accountability for the crime of genocide.
The group also condemned the continued glorification of the genocide’s orchestrators—Enver, Talaat, and Cemal—in Turkey. According to the association, this attitude promotes and spreads racist ideologies.
The statement warns that as long as Turkey denies the genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire, bloodshed in the country will continue.
