U.S.-Armenia working group meets in Washington

PanARMENIAN.Net - Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan and U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary Sonata Coulter opened the inaugural meeting of the U.S.-Armenia working group tasked with implementing agreements made during the Washington Peace Summit on August 8, 2025.

Kostanyan emphasized the importance of the United States' support in establishing lasting peace in the South Caucasus. He reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to actively pursuing implementation of the Memoranda of Understanding signed on August 8, which include:

• Developing capabilities under the Crossroads of Peace initiative,
• Expanding innovation partnerships in artificial intelligence and semiconductors,
• Deepening energy security cooperation between Armenia and the United States.

On August 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint declaration at the White House summarizing the summit's outcomes. In Washington, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov preliminarily signed an agreement titled “On the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan” in the presence of their respective leaders and the U.S. President.
