Yerevan, Washington explore healthcare cooperation

PanARMENIAN.Net - To discuss prospects for developing Armenian-American cooperation in the healthcare sector, Ambassador Narek Mkrtchyan met in Washington with Bethany Kozma, head of the Office of Global Affairs at the U.S. Secretary of Health, according to the Armenian Embassy in the United States.

The sides reviewed the bilateral cooperation agenda, emphasizing in particular the importance of strengthening the institutional foundations of cooperation in healthcare.

During the meeting, a number of issues were discussed, including biosafety, development of laboratory capacities, medical education and training, as well as opportunities for cooperation in the application of artificial intelligence and innovative technologies in healthcare.

The importance of expanding joint work with relevant U.S. agencies and professional institutions was also highlighted, with the aim of developing professional capacities and promoting the exchange of experience. The parties agreed to continue dialogue to ensure the practical implementation of the discussed issues.

Deputy Assistant Secretary Julie Valance also participated in the meeting.
