Armenia to ban plastic bags and containers by 2027

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s National Assembly has adopted a law banning the sale of polyethylene bags and plastic containers starting January 1, 2027.

The legislation was approved in its second and final reading.

Certain exceptions will apply, including garbage bags, plastic bottles with caps, as well as packaging used for oil, meat, and grain products, according to Factor.am .

Businesses in the trade and public catering sectors that violate the ban will first receive a warning, followed by fines ranging from 100,000 to 150,000 drams.
