Weightlifting federation challenges Tsarukyan mandate

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Weightlifting Federation has filed a lawsuit requesting the court to recognize as terminated, as of September 9, 2025, the powers of National Olympic Committee president Gagik Tsarukyan, and consequently to invalidate all decisions and actions taken by the president and the committee since that date, Factor.am reports.

Since January 22, 2025, the federation has been headed by Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Arayik Harutyunyan, while Tsarukyan has served as president of the Armenian National Olympic Committee since September 9, 2004.

The claimant argues that his term expired on September 9, 2025, no new election was held, yet he continued to act as president of the committee.

The lawsuit was submitted to the court on April 8 and assigned to Judge Anushavan Musheghyan.

Meanwhile, on April 11, Gagik Tsarukyan was elected president of the Eurasian Sports Cooperation Association.
