Detention bids denied for Karapetyan allies![]() April 20, 2026 - 15:12 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A court has rejected motions to detain Vahagn Ghazaryan, director of the Tashir Pizza chain, and Mayis Baghumyan, both supporters of Strong Armenia party leader Samvel Karapetyan. The decision was announced on Facebook by their lawyer Vahan Hovhannisyan. “Two days ago, during a march near the Anti-Corruption Court in support of Samvel Karapetyan, the court rejected investigators’ motions regarding my two clients, who did not commit hooliganism. The guys are already home. 48 days remain,” the lawyer wrote. On April 17, supporters of Karapetyan gathered near the Anti-Corruption Committee, where the issue of changing the preventive measure against the businessman was under review. Prior to that, they held a march toward the court, during which scuffles broke out between police and protesters. A criminal case was launched over the incident, and 17 participants in the march were detained. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
