Karapetyan wins third European weightlifting title

PanARMENIAN.Net - Three-time European weightlifting champion Garik Karapetyan said he faced a difficult contest at the latest championship.

“This European championship had almost become like a world championship; I had a tough fight,” he said at a press conference, according to Panorama.am .

At the same time, he noted that it was a pleasant feeling to be crowned European champion for the third consecutive time.

Karapetyan, representing Armenia in the 110 kg weight category, won gold at the European Championships held in Batumi with a total of 415 kg.

After the snatch, he ranked third with a result of 189 kg. In the clean and jerk, he lifted 215 kg and then 226 kg, finishing first in that discipline.
