Yerevan wins bid for 2027 military sports forum

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia has been granted the right to host the 2027 General Assembly and Congress of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), turning the country into a global center of military sports for one week.

A delegation from Armenia’s Defense Ministry participated in the International Military Sports Council General Assembly and Congress held in Monaco. The International Military Sports Council is considered one of the world’s largest multisport organizations after the International Olympic Committee, with 142 member countries.

During the congress, Colonel Arman Davtyan, head of the Physical Training and Sports Service of the Armenian Armed Forces General Staff, delivered a report on the activities carried out by Armenia’s armed forces within the framework of CISM, the Defense Ministry said.

A corresponding agreement has already been signed with the president of the International Military Sports Council.

In 2027, Armenia will host delegations led by heads of sports and physical training departments of the armed forces from 142 countries around the world.

In 2019, Armenia hosted the CISM European Conference, while in 2024 it organized the World Military Wrestling Championship.
