Sukiasyan says Armenia has cheaper gas offers![]() June 2, 2026 - 14:18 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - There have long been offers cheaper than the gas currently sold to Armenian consumers, according to Khachatur Sukiasyan, a businessman and member of parliament from the ruling Civil Contract faction. “Don’t worry, there have long been offers that are cheaper than the gas ultimately sold to consumers. I cannot provide details right now because this is not official information. I have been told by representatives of other countries that they are ready to supply gas to Armenia on more favorable terms,” he said, according to Aysor.am. Sukiasyan noted that he is not authorized to provide additional details and is only sharing information he has heard from his acquaintances. “When speaking with me, my friends said, ‘We are ready,’ and I can tell you it is not just one country,” Sukiasyan said. In recent days, various Russian officials have stated that if Armenia continues moving toward the European Union, it could lose the opportunity to purchase Russian natural gas on preferential terms. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision.
