EXPERTS ARE CONVINCED THAT THE MYTH ABOUT VAST OIL RESERVES OF AZERBAIJAN WILL SOON BE DISPELLED

PanARMENIAN.Net - . Azerbaijan will soon experience the next blow on its positions of the centre of the Caspian oil and gas industry. As reported by CNA Russian agency citing "IRNA" Iranian agency, this will happen after "Chevron" American company declares the results of drilling in Caspian Apsheron off-shore zone. According to information provided by "Financial Times" British newspaper, in the area, where it was expected to discover up to one trillion cubic meters of natural gas, the American company simply found "a very thin gas layer". "IRNA" reminds that it was the fourth failed attempt of Azerbaijan to discover significant hydrocarbon reserves this year. Last week "ExxonMobil" American company reported on absence of oil in the exploring well, which was drilled in Oguz shore well. Similar results were declared by Italian "Agip" and French "TotalFinaElf".

Expert of Cambridge Association of Energy Research Thane Gustafson supposes that oil companies gradually focus attention of the northern regions of the Caspian not belonging to Azerbaijan. This is quite natural taking into account the fact that huge fields of hydrocarbon were discovered in the off-shore zone in Kazakhstan and two smaller ones in the Russian sector of the Caspian. "Azerbaijan did not manage to find new oil fields after three years of exploring works in the Caspian shelf," - "IRNA" writes.
