RA parliament sitting starts with minute of silence

PanARMENIAN.Net - 11 years have passed since the October 27, 1999 tragic events, as a result of which the Armenia lost its best sons, RA National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan said opening today’s parliament sitting.

“These prominent politicians had great plans and the will to implement them,” Abrahamyan said.

Naming those, who have died, he said that these people “had their important role in the establishment of the Armenian statehood.”

The sitting started with a minute of silence.

On October 27, 1999, terrorists led by Nairi Hunanyan assassinated prominent public and political activists of Armenia: national hero of Armenia Vasgen Sargsyan, national hero of Armenia, speaker of the RA NA Karen Demirchyan, vice speakers Yuri Bakhshyan and Ruben Miroyan, parliament members Michael Kotanyan, Armenak Armenakyan, Henrik Abramyan and Leonard Petrosyan.
