Armenian, Azerbaijani Presidents agree to swap POWs

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev have agreed on exchange of prisoners of war.

“The parties have just agreed on a joint statement of humanitarian nature,” Russian President Dmitry Medvedev told a press conference after a trilateral meeting with the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders.

He added that it is an important statement, taking into consideration various complicacies observed currently in the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Nagorno Karabakh.

“It is a special declaration aimed at confidence-building measures to immediately swap prisoners of war and exchange the bodies of dead soldiers,” RIA Novosti quoted Medvedev as saying.
