Armenia to host MMA individual world championships in 2011

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s ArmFighting Federation president Hayk Ghukasyan said the federation plans to hold PROFC mixed martial arts (MMA) individual world championships in Yerevan in 2011.

The tournament will bring together 30 strongest sportsmen of the world; Armenia will be represented by four fighters, said Ghukasyan.

“Out of sportsmen residing in Armenia, only David Khachatryan will participate in it, while the rest will be invited from other countries,” noted Ghukasyan.

In 2010, the federation organized PROFC Union Nation Cup in mixed martial arts with participation of teams from Armenia, Russia, Ukraine and Serbia in Karen Demirchyan Sport and Concert Complex.

“There are 420 sportsmen in Armenia engaged in mixed martial arts, including women,” concluded Ghukasyan.
