RA Ombudsman to follow political and electoral processes more closely

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan is going to follow political and electoral processes in the country more closely.

The rights and powers of the Ombudsman institute are defined more certainly in the amended Electoral Code adopted on May 24 by the Armenian parliament, Andreasyan told a discussion organized by the Civilitas Foundation.

According to him, earlier Armenia’s president could refrain from including any candidate nominated by the Armenian Ombudsman in the Central Electoral Committee (CEC). But now all the candidates suggested by the Ombudsman will be included in CEC.

The next parliamentary and presidential elections will be held in Armenia in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
