Armenian e-commerce legislation to be drafted in 2012

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Interdepartmental Committee on study of e-commerce key problems established by Armenian Prime Minister’s decree has specified 9 problem groups, Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy said.

According to Vahe Danielyan, the Economy Ministry will draft electronic commerce legislation in accordance with the international one.

“Solution to the existing problems in the field of e-commerce is crucial to the development of Armenian economy. Absence of legislation in customs, tax and payment systems has hindered advancement of e-commerce,” Deputy Minister said, citing customs value formation, completion of customs documents, cancellation of e-commerce transactions and other issues as the key problems of electronic commerce.

Solution proposals for all these problems are expected to be debated by the government.

The Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE) is engaged in problem solution of the legal field coordination. Since 2011, through support of Armenian representation of Counterpart International, the Union has pursued policy of legal reform implementation to achieve progress in the field of electronic commerce.
