NATO CANNOT AGREE TO MILITARY SOLUTION OF KARABAKH CONFLICT

PanARMENIAN.Net - Being an associate member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (PA), Armenia and Azerbaijan should take into account that the North Atlantic Alliance cannot agree to resumption of hostilities in Nagorno Karabakh. President of the NATO PA Hon Doug Bereuter stated it when asked by Noyan Tapan Agency to comment on official Baku statements on the possibility of military solution of the Karabakh problem. In his words, the NATO does not have a recipe for settlement of the Karabakh issue. However, the organization is ready to discuss options of finding peaceful solution with the countries involved in the conflict, as well as Russia. To that end the NATO is ready to do its best, but the most important thing is the correct approach of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Bereuter considers. It should be noted that the Spring Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly began in Bratislava May 28, in the course of which the situation in the South Caucasian countries will be discussed among other questions. Besides 26 alliance member countries, delegations of 29 countries, granted associate member status in the NATO PA, including Armenia, participate in the session.
