Armenia Seriously Treats Talks in Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - A diplomat from a state that was crushed in the war imposed by it can nothing but conceal its feebleness under senseless arrogance, said RA MFA Acting Spokesman Vladimir Karapetian when commenting on the latest statements by his Azeri counterpart Tahir Taghizade. "I am trying to understand the psychological complexes of my Azeri counterpart, who makes such mean suppositions on the meeting of two ministers. I am surprised at the illogical verbal flow of the Azeri officials that can hardly be called a thought," Karapetian said. He underscored that the Armenian side seriously treats the talks on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement and expects the same attitude from Azerbaijan. "The Armenian side has several times expressed its positive attitude to the OSCE MG proposals and hopes for continuation of the talks," he said.

Vladimir Karapetian reminded that the negotiation process vividly reveals Azerbaijan's denial policy during the recent several years. "In 1998 Azerbaijan refused from the variant of a common state, in 2000 it refused from the Key West proposals. Now it refuses from the agreements on the package submitted by the OSCE MG Co-chairs. Meanwhile, the format of the OSCE Minsk Group is acceptable and presently is the best format for the conflict settlement," he underscored. He also remarked that conveyance of the issue into the other organizations will inevitably bring to the agenda the issue Karabakh's participation in the talks. "Talks are not an end in itself for Armenia. We are holding talks not to get involved in the Azeri games. If Azerbaijan has no arguments to submit to the OSCE Minsk Group and it tries to gain success in other institutions, where the member states have no sufficient idea of the problem, this is a risky game and Azerbaijan should realize the probable consequences of this policy."

"Anyway Azerbaijan will not be able to conceal the fact that it was the first state of the former USSR to carry out ethnic cleansings, launch hostilities against the people, whom it considered to be its citizens. Azerbaijan still destroys the Armenian cultural heritage and denies any kind of cooperation," Karapetian said, reported the RA MFA press office.
