PanARMENIAN.Net - YEREVAN, April 26. /Mediamax/. State Department Deputy Spokesman Philip Reeker stated: "As we have said before, the Government of Azerbaijan should respect its citizens' rights to freedom of assembly."

Mediamax was informed today by the press service of U.S. State Department that Reeker said this at a briefing Wednesday, commenting on the disperse of opposition rally in Baku on April 21st.

He reminded that in the Annual Human Rights report issued recently by the U.S. State Department, Azerbaijan's human rights record is characterized as "poor". However, he noted that in the last few years there had been improvements in a few significant areas in Azerbaijan. --0--
