Onno Simons: regional security priority in Europe’s eastern policy December 1, 2011 - 15:50 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Regional security is a priority issue with the Europe’s eastern policy, according to the head of the EU Delegation to Armenia. As Onno Simons stated on the sidelines of Yerevan-hosted forum on European Neighborhood Policy and European cooperation initiatives in regional security sector, “developing cooperation in defense sector, EU and Armenia are taking efforts to provide regional stability. Also, EU is working to boost the atmosphere of trust in South Caucasus through supporting regional cooperation in various sectors.” Dwelling on Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, Simons noted the issue among the most serious ones. As he stated in this context, during her November visit to the region, EU High Representative Catherine Ashton reiterated EU readiness to cooperate in conflict settlement.
