NKR official: replacement of France with EU won’t affect Karabakh talks

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairman of NKR Public Council on Foreign Policy and Security commented on adoption of the document on Armenia by European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, proposing to replace France’s mandate in OSCE Minsk Group on Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement with that of the European Union.

As Masis Mailyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, initiative of the EU aims to increase its presence in the South Caucasus, particularly in Karabakh resolution.

On various occasions, EU representatives reiterated Europe’s intention on intensifying engagement in conflict settlement, the step being a vivid proof of that. According to Mr. Mailyan, replacement of France with the EU will result in no tangible changes in the negotiation process, certainly, if Europe doesn’t come up with radically new proposals.
