Expert: ANC will turn into Armenian National Movement

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian National Congress (ANC) opposition bloc will transform into Armenian National Movement following the elections, according to Armenian political analyst.

Karen Kocharyan focused on the withdrawal of a number of political forces from the bloc, and the possible withdrawal of Republic opposition party after the parliamentary race.

“Though ANC started in a different way, it ends like Armenian National Movement,” the expert said.

Mr. Kocharyan also underscored the role of ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrossian, recalling the words by Congress member Hrant Bagratyan, “ANC is doomed to fail without its leader.”

Director of the Armenian branch of the Institute of CIS countries Alexander Markarov, in turn, noted that ANC proportional list comprising prominent experienced political figures was no surprise.

“The ANC candidates list is based on its structure. The leadership of the Congress was reflected in the top ten of its electoral list,” the expert said.
