Petrosian and Vladimir Poghosyan gained a win in the 6th round of the European Chess Championship underway in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. They beat Russia’s Alexander Shimanov and Vladimir Fedoseev and Belgium’s Milan Pein, respectively. Sergei Movsesian - Markus Ragger (Austria), Hrant Melkumian - Dmitry Andreikin (Russia), Gabriel Sargissian - Tomasz Banusz (Hungary) matches ended in a draw. Robert Hovhannisyan and Zaven Andriasian tied their game against Andrei Volokitin (Ukraine) and Alexei Pridorozhny (Russia) respectively. Hovhannes Gabuzyan played a draw with Nikola Sedlak (Serbia) and Arman Pashikian tied the match with Yakub Erturan (Turkey). Samvel Ter-Sahakyan was the only Armenian player who lost to Germany’s Daniel Fridman. The 7th round of the tournament is due on March 27. Movsesian, Melkumian and Akopian scored 4.5 points each, lagging behind the leaders for only 0.5 point.
