Beybutyan was involved in the investigation group examining the murder of Karen Yesayan, fiancé of Armenian northern Gyumri city mayor’s daughter. Photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan told Haykakan Zhamanak daily that an unidentified vehicle hit Beybutyan at about 1.00 am in Garegin Nzhdeh street in front of Gyumri police department and fled the scene. Beybutyan died on the way to hospital.
