PM hails govt. policy shift on Armenian national competitivenessApril 18, 2012 - 16:26 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Government’s events aimed at boosting national competitiveness of Armenia has undergone radical changes, Armenian Prime Minister said. “The government currently pursues new policy, which aims to shift from macro-regulation to creation of favorable conditions for business and marketing,” Tigran Sargsyan said during presentation of the National Competitiveness Report of Armenia 2011-2012. In this context, he noted that a new cooperation platform between government and private sector will be established, citing export-oriented industrial policy adopted by the government as its bright example. According to RA Prime Minister, the report allows to assess the economic situation of Armenia, detect reasons behind the weak points of its competitiveness and to identify the directions that will significantly boost the country’s competitiveness. Head of Economy and Values Armenian Research Center Manuk Yergnyan, in turn, noted that the report consist of following two parts - general assessment of the country’s economic situation and its competitiveness, as well as the practice of running private companies. National Competitiveness Report of Armenia 2011-2012 has been prepared by Economy and Values Research Center through support of CAPS/USAID program, VivaCell-MTS, STAR trade network, German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
