Human Rights defender: early to assess election process

PanARMENIAN.Net - Human Rights defender Karen Andreasyan said that as a part of the election process monitoring he held a number of meetings with the heads of the headquarters of the parties running for the elections, except for Orinats Yerkir and the Republican Party of Armenia due to their refusal to meet.

Mr. Andreasyan refrained from assessing the current stage of the election campaign, saying the monitoring is still in progress.

“The episode with the Armenian National Congress (ANC) representative Nikol Pashinyan is still being investigated, and it is still early to draw any conclusions,” he said, adding that specific assessments will be made following the parliamentary elections.

On April 27, editor-in-chief of Haykakan Zhamanak daily newspaper Nikol Pashinyan called the district police department, saying that he was interrupted during a meeting of N7 district election commission at N 92 kindergarten of administrative district Malatia-Sebastia thus violating his rights as a parliamentary candidate.
