IN NICOSIA ARMENIAN FOREIGN MINISTER DISCUSSED SITUATION AROUND MELKONIAN ARMENIAN LYCEUM

PanARMENIAN.Net - In the course of his visit to Cyprus Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian and Nicosia Mayor Michalakis Zampelas discussed the situation around Melkonian Armenian lyceum functioning there. M. Zampelas said he was concerned with the possible closing of the longstanding education institution and promised to do his best to avoid it. The Mayor reported he intended to address the Cyprus Government suggesting to declare the lyceum a historical monument. It should be reminded that according to a decision of the board of the Armenian General Benevolent Union, the Melkonian Lyceum will be closed in June 2005.
