Hovannisian conferred and exchanged greetings with Uruguay's Foreign Minister Luis Almagro. He later met and offered formal comments to the election observation missions of the OSCE, PACE, and European Parliament. On May 5, Hovannisian received a group of Turkish journalists visiting Armenia under the auspices of the Hrant Dink Foundation. He briefed the guests on the prospects of bilateral relations, on the Genocide and Great National Dispossession, and on Armenia's domestic and foreign policy challenges. In a separate development, Mr. Hovannisian expressed solidarity with fellow citizens, and especially the children, who were injured the previous day in the accident in Republic Square.
