Parliamentary elections: 62,33% of voter turnout reported

PanARMENIAN.Net - According to Central Election Commission-provided data, 62,33% or 1.572.518 voters out of 2.522.962 cast ballots at Armenia’s parliamentary elections.

483.692 or 59.43% of voters cast ballots in Yerevan, 78.587 or 69.16% in Aragatsotn province, 150.488 or 70.83% in Ararat province, 124.893 or 56.11% in Armavir province, 122.963 or 65.98% in Gegharkunik province, 139.741 or 59.12% in Lori province, 150.211 or 64.88% in Kotayk province, 131.237 or 57.39% in Shirak province, 87.686 or 72.09% in Syunik province, 31.655 or 66.82% in Vayots Dzor province and 71.365 or 65.82% in Tavush province.

Polling stations closed in Armenia at 8pm.

As of 5 pm, 1.330.117 people or 51.53% of the total number of voters have already participated in the parliamentary elections, Central Election Commission reported.

Citizens elected 131 MPs of the next convocation of the National Assembly, with 90 of them running by proportional system and 41- by the majority system.

Parliamentary elections feature 8 political parties, Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Prosperous Armenia, ARF Dashnaktsutyun (ARFD), Orinats Yerkir, Heritage, Democratic Party of Armenia (DPA), Communist Party of Armenia and United Armenians party, as well as one election bloc represented by opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC).

647 international and over 31 thous. local observers monitor the parliamentary elections in Armenia. OSCE/ODIHR (258 observers), OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (69), PACE (37), CIS Interparliamentary Assembly (22), as well as International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and SILBA international organization have deployed observer missions in Armenia.

The preliminary results will be published no later than 24 hours after the voting, with final results to be released on the seventh day starting the voting day.
