ICES head: Armenians made another step towards democracyMay 7, 2012 - 01:12 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - President of International expert Center for Electoral Systems (ICES) said that the election campaign in Armenia was quite interesting. In conversation with a PanARMENIAN reporter, Alexander Tsinker noted that though the elections were conducted smoothly, ink-related problems arose, which were quickly resolved by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC). “Problems also arose with people with limited mobility. The head of the electoral commission in a polling station took out a ballot for a woman with physical problems to make her choice,” Mr. Tsinker said, adding that though minor violations occurred, they won’t affect the election outcomes. “The elections were held successfully on the whole. The counting of votes is also likely to run smoothly. Armenian people made another step towards democracy,” he said.
