Cannes: Weinstein Company buys “Haute Cuisine” food-centric comedy

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Weinstein Company has acquired food-centric comedy “Haute Cuisine” from Wild Bunch for $500,000, The Wrap reported.

The film stars Catherine Frot as Daniele Delpeuch, a private chef for former French president Francois Mitterrand. Mitterrand was the longest-tenured president in French history and played a crucial role in furthering the integration of Europe.

Jean D’Ormesson, a Paris-born novelist, plays Mitterrand. This is D’Ormesson’s first feature. In the film, Mitterrand falls in love with Depeuch’s cooking, alienating the official cooking staff. Etienne Comar, who co-wrote “Of Gods and Men,” co-wrote the film with director Christian Vincent. Comar is also a producer.

The Weinsteins have been a powerful force at Cannes, buying a series of projects including a documentary about the fall of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi and a scripted film about the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden.
