Anonymous leaks 1.7GB of U.S. Bureau of Justice dataMay 22, 2012 - 11:42 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Anonymous group released 1.7GB worth of data from the United States Bureau of Justice, including the entire database of the organization, as well as internal emails, Neowin reports. It's not clear what the intent was here, with the Bureau of Justice being a small part of the U.S. Department of Justice that provides statistics relating to crime in the United States. The post over at AnonNews doesn't enlighten much about the hack either, however it seems the release is the group expressing its disdain of the U.S. government. The archive could well be personal details of criminals in the United States. The Department of Justice admitted to RT that one or more users had accessed a server belonging to them and that they were performing an investigation, Neowin says. Other major releases by Anonymous have included the leak of Symantec code to the internet, as well as the release of a DOJ investigators internal emails. Anonymous also performed a denial of service attack on the DoJ website earlier this year in response to Megaupload being taken offline.
