NATO summit declarations won’t affect situation – expert

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yana Amelina says NATO reiterates its call to Russia to abandon recognition of independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

NATO reiterates its call to Russia to abandon recognition of independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, whilst backing Georgia’s aspiration to join the Alliance, head of the Caucasian studies at the Russian Institute of strategic studies said.

“Apparently, the Georgian military might may be aimed at “restoration of Georgia’s territorial integrity”, i.e. “return” of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. NATO backs Tbilisi in its aspiration,” Yana Amelina told PanARMENIAN.Net

According to her, similar statements in support of “territorial integrity” and “peaceful resolution of religious conflicts” were also addressed to Armenia, Azerbaijan and Moldova.

“Such declarations make part of information war and they won’t affect the situation.” the expert said, stressing the need for Russia to attach importance to the consistency of NATO demands.
