Cannes: Sony nabs rights to Ethan Hawke’s “Predestination” thriller

PanARMENIAN.Net - Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has acquired domestic and many international rights to the Ethan Hawke sci-fi action thriller Predestination, which is in pre-production, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The movie is written and directed by brothers Michael and Peter Spierig, who previously worked with Hawke on the 2010 vampire movie Daybreakers.

According to SPWA, the script “chronicles the life of a temporal government agent sent on an intricate series of time-travel journeys designed to stop future killers.”

It is based on a short story by classic sci-fi author Robert A. Heinlein. While it’s titled All You Zombies, it is not a zombie tale and the Spierigs have called described is as “the mother of all time paradox tales.”

The movie is set to shoot in Australia in early 2013. Producing are the Spierig Brothers with Brisbane-based Patrick McDonald of Wolfhound Pictures and Tim McGahan of Blacklab Entertainment.
