REPORTS ON NAGORNO KARABAKH'S INTENTION TO ISSUE OWN CURRENCY - AZERBAIJAN'S REGULAR PROVOCATIONJuly 12, 2004 - 23:04 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The reports on Nagorno Karabakh's intention to issue own currency are at least not serious, head of Nagorno Karabakh government's press service David Mikaelian told Arminfo agency when commenting on the article published in Echo Baku newspaper. In his words, Nagorno Karabakh being in common economic space with Armenia has the same currency - dram. There is no need in issuing own currency, Mikaelian said. In his opinion, such provocations are intended to maintain tension among the population of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan, thus sharpening the distrust between the parties to conflict. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
