Armenian President meets with U.S. Senator Durbin![]() June 1, 2012 - 22:04 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On June 1, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met with the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee member Dick Durbin. Welcoming the guest, President Sargsyan underscored the important role of Armenia’s friends in the U.S. Senate, whose support fostered ensuring of stability in the region. He hailed the financial, humanitarian and technical assistance the U.S. extended to Armenia for the past 20 years. Armenian leader voiced gratitude to Senator Durbin personally as a co-drafter of the Genocide resolution submitted to the U.S. Senate in 2007. The two men further discussed issues related to Armenian-American ties, as well as the current regional problems and challenges. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
