Adele's “21” regains Billboard 200 album chart No.1 spotJune 14, 2012 - 15:34 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Adele has regained the No.1 spot on the Billboard 200 album chart with her sophomore effort '21', 68 weeks after its release. The multi-Grammy Award winner remarkably held off new entries from Neil Young, The Beach Boys and Alan Jackson to regain the top spot, selling 75,000 copies, Contactmusic reported citing Reuters. The chart success is almost certainly down to Nbc's special 'Adele Live in London', which aired on June 2, 2012, though the record has yet to drop out of the Top 10 since its release in February 2011. It was largely expected that country crooner Alan Jackson would debut at No.1 with his latest release 'Thirty Miles West', though his album sold 2,000 less copies than Adele. The Beach Boys' 29th studio album 'That's Why God Made the Radio' entered at No.3 with solid sales of 61,000, while Canadian legend Neil Young landed at No.4 with 'Americana'. Making up with Top 10 were acts including One Direction, who fell two places to No.6, and Brandi Carlile, who sold 27,000 copies of her fifth studio album 'Bear Creek'. On Billboard's Digital Songs chart, it was Carly Rae Jepsen who continued her reign at the top with pop anthem 'Call Me Maybe', while Katy Perry climbed to No.4 with her ballad 'Wide Awake'.
