GROUND FOR PROSECUTOR GENERAL OFFICE ARRESTING ORGANIZER OF TIGRAN NAGHDALIAN'S MURDER SUFFICIENT AND CONVINCING, ARMENIAN PRESIDENT SAID

PanARMENIAN.Net - The office of the prosecutor general of Armenia possesses sufficient and convincing proof of the guilt of entrepreneur Armen Sargsian as the main organizer of the assassination of chief of the Public Television Company of Armenia Tigran Naghdalian. As reported by "Arka" agency, Armenian president Robert Kocharian said today. He called "absurd" the opposition accusations that the authorities use the investigation of Naghdalian's case "to neutralize political opponents." "The authorities clearly recognize that the arrest of A. Sargsian will entail additional tension in the country and it is not profitable for us," - R. Kocharian said. In his words, two weeks ago the law-enforcement bodies reported the availability of proof of Armen Sargsian's guilt. However, the president addressed the office of the prosecutor general and called to collect additional materials before making a decision on arresting. "The prosecutor's office did not have any alternatives in the issue, as otherwise it would mean concealing the criminal," - R. Kocharian said. The president also called "absurd" the statements that via arresting A. Sargsian the authorities were trying to get back at the family of former prime ministers Vazgen and Aram Sargsians. "Their family should first of all think of the responsibility to the people and the country, and the participation in the grave crime is first of all disrespectful attitude towards the country and the memory of Vazgen Sargsian," - R. Kocharian said. "The final decision will be made by the court and all complaints in this respect should be addressed to it. I do not have either a right or desire to interfere in the process," - Robert Kocharian concluded.
