YURI MERZLYAKOV REFUTED STATEMENTS ATTRIBUTED TO HIM BY BAKU MEDIA ON CONTENTS OF TALKS OF ARMENIAN AND AZERI PRESIDENTS IN ASTANASeptember 18, 2004 - 19:36 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Yuri Merzlyakov strictly refuted the statements attributed to him by Baku media allegedly made on the meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders in Astana on September 16 that "the concepts proposed for discussion by the Presidents are within the frames of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity". Yuri Merzlyakov stated it in response to the inquiry of the Armenian Embassy in Russia, RA MFA press service reported. He also refuted the attributed to him statements that "the Presidents touched upon the issues, which were viewed during the talks in Prague", as well as that "one of the proposals submitted referred to the withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the seized territories adjacent to Karabakh, return of refugees and securing them."![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
