NATO hails Armenia’s reform implementationJune 22, 2012 - 21:50 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On June 21, NATO Headquarters hosted a NATO+Armenia meeting aimed at discussion of the report on the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) between Armenia and the Atlantic Alliance2011. According to RA MFA press service, Armenian delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Ashot Hovakimyan and First Deputy Defense Minister David Tonoyan. In his speech, Mr. Hovakimyan called attention to Armenia’s successful implementation of IPAP provisions, international observers’ positive assessments of recent parliamentary elections, current stage of Armenia-EU cooperation, Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, particularly Azeri provocations at border with Armenia and contact line, Azeri ceasefire violations and the recent regional developments. Mr. Tonoyan, in turn, briefed on IPAP-stipulated reforms in the fields of defense and security, participation of Armenian units in NATO’s peacekeeping missions, as well as military cooperation programs. In their speeches, NATO representatives voiced gratitude for Armenian servicemen’s participation in peacekeeping missions, highly assessing Armenia’s reform implementation and parliamentary elections. Delegates from OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries reaffirmed their governments’ adherence to the three principles of Karabakh resolution: non-use of force, peoples' right for self-determination and territorial integrity.
