New “road” business set up in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Road surveillance cameras daily record 1500-2000 traffic rule violations, chairman of Achilles center for drivers' rights protection said.

“The traffic fines, which daily total about USD 35 thous., replenish extra-budgetary funds,” Eduard Hovhannisyan said, citing a new business in the format of state-private sector cooperation at a ratio of 30%/70% to prove his point.

As Hovhannisyan noted, 20 surveillance cameras and 32 speed detectors have been installed in Yerevan, with 5 more cameras to be installed in the near future.
