ARMENIAN AND NORWEGIAN FOREIGN MINISTERS DISCUSSED KARABAKH SETTLEMENT PROCESSOctober 11, 2004 - 18:23 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - October 10 Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian received his Norwegian counterpart, Chairman of the Committee of Ministers, Council of Europe Jan Petersen, who is in Yerevan within the framework of a regional visit to the countries of the South Caucasus. As reported by the Press Service of the foreign department of Armenia, in the course of the meeting the parties discussed a range of questions of mutual interest, accentuating the development of economic cooperation and realization of reforms. V. Oskanian presented the steps being taken by Armenia in order to meet the obligations to the Council of Europe. Within the context of Eurointegration the process of strengthening democracy was discussed, as well as the parties exchanged views on a wide range of regional issues. At the instance of the guest the Armenian FM presented the current state of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement and Armenia's approaches to its solution. Within the prospect of regional developments the parties also discussed the opportunities for settlement of relations with Turkey, as well as noted the importance of inclusion of the Council of Europe in the process. Besides, the Armenian Foreign Minister suggested considering the opportunity of holding an Armenian-Norwegian business forum.
