ARMENIA SHOULD MODERNIZE MILITARY STRUCTURES FOR BETTER COMPATIBILITY WITH NATO

PanARMENIAN.Net - If Armenia wishes to notably enhance its compatibility with the Alliance, it will have to modernize some military structures, stated US Ambassador to the NATO Nicolas Burns in an interview with Mediamax news agency. "I would like specially to note Armenia's contribution to the peacekeeping operation in Kosovo and successful holding of the Cooperative Best Effort - 2004 maneuvers. Armenia's desire to draw up an Individual Partnership Program with the NATO is a proof of the readiness to continue cooperation with the NATO and the Alliance understands it," N. Burns said. Touching upon issues of accession of the countries of the region to the organization, N. Burns noted that it is early to speak of the opportunity of membership of any of the South Caucasian countries. "The goal of the NATO in the region is strengthening security cooperation in the region," the American diplomat noted.
