Employers’ Union chief: export structure weakly diversified in ArmeniaJuly 13, 2012 - 15:43 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The structure of Armenian export has remained unchanged for many years, the major share of exports including metal mining industry products, alcohol, gold and diamonds, according to the head of the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia. As Gagik Makaryan told a news conference in Yerevan, the representatives of small and medium businesses stay outside the structure, unwilling to face export-related difficulties. According to Makaryan, similar situation can be observed in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kirghyzia, the courtiers which also have weakly diversified export structure. Armenia’s foreign trade turnover totaled $488.2 mln (AMD 193.8 bln.) in May 2012 increasing by 3,1% compared to the same period in 2011, according to updated statistical data. Export amounted to $122.2 mln (AMD 48,6 bln.) in May 2012, increasing by 33% on a monthly basis, while 15,2% growth was recorded in import as compared to May 2011, bringing it to $366 bln.(AMD 145,2 bln.), the RA National Statistical Service reported.
