CSTO can’t be key guarantee of Armenian security – expert

PanARMENIAN.Net - Political analyst believes Uzbekistan’s withdrawal from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) a challenge for Armenia’s foreign policy.

“The challenge is conveyed in the need for us to acknowledge that CSTO is not a key guarantee of our security,” Stepan Grigoryan told a press conference in Yerevan.

He further stressed the importance of Uzbekistan’s withdrawal from the alliance given Russia’s intention to intensify integration processes in Post-Soviet area, particularly through the Eurasian Union.

In this context, the expert called attention to Ukraine’s refusal to join the Customs Union.
