5-magnitude quake strikes area near Iran’s Tabriz city

PanARMENIAN.Net - A 5-magnitude earthquake hit area near Iran’s city of Tabriz, Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported, citing European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

The earthquake hit at 60 km depth.

Asked by a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter as to the quake was felt in Armenia, the ministry representative said the official data are being clarified.

Two earthquakes that struck the northwestern province of East Azerbaijan on Aug. 11 destroyed dozens of villages, killing at least 306 people and leaving thousands homeless.
