Turkey’s Interior Minister attacked in country’s southeast

PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkish Interior Minister İdris Naim Şahin was attacked by a group who threw stones at him on weekend during a visit he paid to the southeastern province of Hakkari, according to Today’s Zaman.

Şahin was touring Hakkari and chatting with shop owners along the Cumhuriyet Street when he was attacked by a group of people who were chanting slogans in favor of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

Security forces intervened after the group threw stones at the minister, who suffered no injuries. The minister was circled by police and taken to a nearby shop. Police used pepper gas to disperse the group.
