OSCE MISSION DEPARTED FOR AGHDAM

PanARMENIAN.Net - Today members of the OSCE fact-finding mission departed for Aghdam. Earlier they were scheduled to visit the Zangelan region bordering with Iran, however due to the tiredness of the mission members and bad condition of the roads the call to Zangelan was postponed and the decision to visit Aghdam situated near Stepanakert was taken. Let us remind that the Aghdam region was liberated by the Armenian forced of Nagorno Karabakh in June-July 1993 thus securing the central NKR regions and Stepanakert from constant bombardments. With the seizure of the Aghdam bridgehead the front line was considerably shortened and lives of many civilians saved. Control over of the territories of the security belt including the Aghdam region still remains the only real guarantee of peace in the conflict zone.
