NAM summit participants to visit Iran’s nuclear facilitiesAugust 25, 2012 - 14:19 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Participants of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) will visit Iran’s nuclear facilities, Iran’s Foreign Minister said. According to Mehr News Agency, Ali Akbar Salehi issued a report on the work carried out regarding the summit at a special meeting of Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission. As Minister Salehi noted, visits to Iran’s industrial enterprises and pilgrimage sites will be on participants’ agenda. As RA ambassador to Iran Grigor Arakelyan said earlier, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan will also attend the event. The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) is a group of states considering themselves not aligned formally with or against any major power bloc. As of 2012, the movement had 120 members and 17 observer countries. The organization was founded in Belgrade in 1961, and was largely the brainchild of Yugoslavia's president, Josip Broz Tito; India's first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru; Egypt's second president, Gamal Abdel Nasser; Ghana's first president Kwame Nkrumah; and Indonesia's first president, Sukarno.
