U.S. allocates $2.5 mln for legal sector development in Armenia![]() September 10, 2012 - 17:03 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan and U.S. Ambassador John Heffern signed a deal to introduce an amendment to an agreement on control over drug trafficking and cooperation in law-enforcement sector. The amendment envisages allocating $2,5 mln in financial aid to implement a number of programs in legal sector, including struggle against crime, money laundering, corruption as well as reforms in legal sector. In conclusion, the ambassador stressed cooperation between U.S. government and Armenian Prosecutor General's Office, law enforcement agencies and legal bodies as an important part of bilateral partnership. As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed. David Vardanyan is the son of former Karabakh leader Ruben Vardanyan who who is currently imprisoned in Azerbaijan.
