Sweden’s Armenians protest Azeri assassin releaseSeptember 15, 2012 - 11:09 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian community of Sweden gathered in front of the Hungarian embassy in Stockholm Friday, Sept 14, to protest the extradition and subsequent pardon of Azeri murderer Ramil Safarov. The protesters held sheets reading "For how much did you sell your honor?" and "We want justice for Gurgen Margaryan". A letter of protest addressed to the Hungarian government was handed over to the vice ambassador of Hungary, who emphasized his country’s friendship with the Armenians and said that Hungarian people share the Armenian grief. Along with the letter, the vice ambassador received two books on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Gurgen Margaryan On February 19, 2004, Lieutenant of the Armenian Armed Forces Gurgen Margaryan, 26, was hacked to death, while asleep, by a fellow Azerbaijani participant, lieutenant Ramil Safarov, in Budapest during a three-month English language course in the framework of Partnership for Peace NATO-sponsored program. In accordance with Budapest District Court sentence dated April 13, 2006, Ramil Safarov was life imprisoned for murdering the Armenian officer.
